The Black Widow (Latrodectus), belonging to the family Theridiidae, is a relatively small spider found in various regions around the world. Known for the potent venom in its glands, which contains neurotoxins capable of causing intense pain in humans, this species rarely poses a threat unless provoked. The females, larger than the males, build webs in dark, secluded areas where they wait for their prey, usually insects, to become trapped in the sticky silk. Their behavior is generally solitary, and their diet consists of small invertebrates, which they immobilize with their venom.
